Feb 27, 2021 If you are using Mac, the steps are the same as on Windows, but the Kindle for Mac will be downgraded to version 1.23. Note: If your MacOS has been updated to the MacOS10.15 Catalina, kindle for Mac 1.23 will no long work on your computer any more because it is the 32 bits application while the new MacOS 10.15 only supports 64 bits applications. Kindle for Mac 1.23.1 thru 1.30.0. The first post in this thread to link to the new information by odamizu for getting Method 2 working with the latest Kindle for Mac.

The books downloaded via Kindle for PC/MAC are with a new type of kindle KFX DRM. For this new kindle kfx drm, there is not any software on the market can handle it for now. Epubor software has offered an alternative solution to remove this new kindle kfx drm.
1. Deregister Kindle for PC/MAC, uninstall the Kindle for PC/mac 1.25.
2.Then reinstall the older version of Kindle for PC(http://download.epubor.com/sold/KindleForPC-installer-1.24.51068.exe) and kindle for pc(http://download.epubor.com/sold/KindleForMac-1.23.50131.dmg)
3. Register this older version of Kindle for pc/mac, and then re-download your Kindle books.
4. Run epubor software to remove the DRM again. The new Kindle kfx drm will be removed.
NOTE: Please uncheck the 'automatically' update options to stop the kindle update.

None of the alternatives work for me.Kindle reader for chrome will not allow download.
Even if that worked, I am required to buy other software. Kindle reader for SAfary will download n=book but your software will not ind it a it only works with Chrome.

I do not have a kindle registered on my name so, I cannot download vis USB.

What is Kindle kcr? I can not give a definitely explanation so far as it is just released about one week. All I can tell is that the .kcr file contains the main body of the Kindle books which is stored in Kindle .kfx file previously. Many of you guys maybe still have not seen this new kindle ebook format. If you have updated your Kindle for Mac to version 1.25.2(52077) or later version, you will be “lucky” enough to meet this new Kindle format--Kindle KCR.

Since this is a new Kindle ebook format, there is no solution to remove DRM from kindle kcr file directly currently. But this is not the end of the world because I have collected three alternative methods to eliminate drm from Kindle kcr books and convert kcr to pdf.

Method 1. Downgrade Kindle for Mac to Older Version

Notice:
If you are on macOS Catalina 10.15, this method will not work for you any more. Please follow the Ultimate Way to Remove Kindle DRM on MacOS 10.15 Catalina.

Don't want to downgrade kindle for PC to older version? You can just skip this method and try “Download & Transfer via USB”. But I really suggest you try this method out as the whole process is very easy and ensure 100% success. Updated: You can automatically downgrade Kindle for Mac to older version with the help of Epubor Ultimate.

Step 1. Deregister and uninstall Kindle for Mac version 1.25.2.

Run your Kindle desktop application. Go to Kindle-->>Preference-->>General-->>Click on “Deregister”.

A new window will pop up. Check the box before “I understand…” and then click on “Deregister” to deregister your kindle for Mac1.25.2.
